Neighborhood Services

Should you need skilled nursing, The Elsie Gayer Healthcare Center at Baptist Retirement Community is San Angelo's best choice for skilled nursing care. Baptist Retirement Community provides a Neighborhood Services program to both the campus and to the greater areas of San Angelo. The service includes Baptist Home Health, Baptist Hospice, and Baptist Personal Assistance Services.

Baptist Home Health offers support and medical services in the comfort of your own home. Our skilled nurses, therapists, social worker and registered dietician work with personal physicians to deliver the finest medical care to you. Our goal is to help you remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. Reimbursement for Home Health services is available through Medicare and many private insurance plans. We also provide optional private pay personal assistance services that include:

  • Assistance with bathing, grooming and dressing
  • Laundry and light housekeeping
  • Grocery shopping and meal preparation
  • Help with medications
  • Accompaniment to appointments

Baptist Hospice provides physical, spiritual and emotional support to those with terminal illness and their families. Our goal is to care for patients with compassion and dignity and to encourage each of them to live each day to the fullest. We recognize that dying is a part of life and seek to provide comfort, not a cure.

The Hospice team is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Your physician, nurse practitioner and our medical director work together to develop a care plan. The care team includes nurses, social worker, chaplain, home health aide and a bereavement coordinator.

Hospice patients are accepted based on their health care needs, not their ability to pay. Reimbursement of Hospice services is available through Medicare, Medicaid and many private insurance plans.
